W+K Lobby Prank

Every full-time employee at Wieden and Kennedy’s Portland office gets a professional portrait (usually creative or silly) hung in the lobby of the building. It’s a right of passage.

As an intern in 2002, I found an empty picture frame in an office closet, and decided to photograph, print, and hang up my own renegade portrait, late one night.

That’s me, playing the trumpet.

I didn’t tell anyone about my prank, and it slipped through the cracks. After my internship ended, my photo hung in that lobby for seven years… until finally someone figured it out.
